Question of the day

What is TRIM and why is it important for SSDs?

TRIM allows the operating system to tell the SSD which blocks are no longer in use. When you delete a file, the OS marks its blocks as free, but the SSD doesn’t know to erase them unless TRIM is supported and enabled. Without TRIM, the SSD has to guess when to clean up, so garbage collection can slow things down and cause more wear as it moves data that’s still considered valid. With TRIM, the drive can erase those free blocks in advance and reuse them, keeping write speeds high and spreading wear more evenly, which helps the drive maintain performance and last longer. Other options aren’t correct because defragmentation is a HDD optimization technique, TRIM isn’t about encryption, and TRIM doesn’t affect RAM capacity.

Very convenient to study on the go. The questions feel authentic and the feedback points out misconceptions clearly. The lack of modules keeps it flexible, and the flash cards are ideal for last-minute cram sessions on Examzify.

Pretty good resource, but I hit a snag with some questions that seemed off-topic. It did help with flash cards and quick explanations, though. If you’re aiming high, you’ll still need additional notes. For a budget-friendly boost, Examzify is worth a try, especially on mobile.

Clear explanations, strong formatting, and a realistic question flow. I prefer the lack of modules because it mimics the unpredictable order of the real test. I left with solid recall for key terms and procedures, and Examzify’s app made on-the-go study feasible.
